Korean Pervert Warning

I don’t know exactly what this means, but I have a pretty good idea. The illustration is hilarious. I noticed it on the subway wall going to Noryangjin. I would imagine it’s either a warning to would be perverts on the subway, or a precautionary measure for any ladies out there that may not be aware of perverts on the train.

I have not personally witnessed a pervert in action, or violated myself, but I guess this would be good information for anyone reading my blog that’s interested in visiting this otherwise civilized country.

If anyone can translate the Korean, let me know. I’m very curious to know what the sign says.

I had to pull out my dictionary for most of these words. The first part seems to be “excessive bodily contact,” but it looks like there could be a connotation of “inappropriate touching.” Under that it says “makes everyone uncomfortable!”

The two lines at the bottom: first one says something like “excessive displays of affection on the subway car make [us] frown.”

(I tried running this through the translator at http://translate.reference.com/translate and got “The love expression which goes to extremes from electromotion the [cci] [phwu] dog does the different meaning furrow between the eyebrows which it sees.”) Wheee!

The last line says “Intentional bodily contact can receive legal punishment.”

Can’t make out the captions under the pictures.

Oh! I know why I got that “dog” thing–I put in 개 instead of 게. Now it says “The love expression which goes to extremes from electromotion does to make the different meaning furrow between the eyebrows frown which it sees.” Which makes so much more sense.

That is just too funny–my husband took a picture of this exact same sign on the subway. He thought the illustrations were hilarious too.

I am really enjoying your blog. Like you, my husband is of Korean ancestry (Korean mother/American father)–he was raised in the U.S. and did not speak any Korean until we moved here a little over two years ago. Learning about the Korean culture has been wonderful for him. I respect and commend what you are doing. Good luck and best wishes to you! :)
